Daniela Rus on liquid networks

"And so we can replace the differential equation with a closed-form equation that behaves beautifully. And so that’s one advantage.

"Also, because of the way we have structured the network, we can apply dynamical systems theory and control theory to analyzing the network.

"And finally, because these models are so much smaller, we can extract decision trees that will tell you how the network reaches its decisions.

"We haven’t finished the work on liquid networks. In fact, we started working on this topic only a few years ago, and there’s so much more to be done.

"But it’s very, very exciting, and I’m very happy that we have access to analysis tools from a wide range of areas of math and of robotics to apply to these new models."
