The Nobel prize in physics has been awarded to two researchers for their groundbreaking work on machines that learn.


Announced by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences in Stockholm, the winners share 11m Swedish kronor (about £810,000).

The Nobel committee said the prize was given “for foundational discoveries and inventions that enable machine learning with artificial neural networks”.
