"Public reporting has been helpful for many spiraling users, they say, some of whom have second-guessed their experiences after reading accounts from other people whose spirals sound eerily similar to their own.
"'A spiritual or religious or conspiracy theory, or anything along those lines, is very difficult, because religion itself is already in the realm of personal beliefs,' said Brooks. 'How can you tell someone that they’re wrong?'
"'We’re seeing some people who are so deep in it that they don’t need ChatGPT anymore,' he added. 'They see their delusion in everything'."
